We’ve made managing your short links easier — even if you create them before signing up.
Starting now, when you shorten a URL on qz-l, we automatically remember the short links you create in your browser. When you later create an account or sign in, those links will be claimed and added to your dashboard automatically.
No extra steps required.
How It Works
Here’s what happens behind the scenes:
You shorten a URL
You can create one or multiple short links without signing up.We save the short codes in your browser
The short codes are temporarily stored in your browser using browser cookies, allowing us to remember which links you created. You sign up or log in
When you create an account or sign in, we automatically detect those saved short codes.Your links appear in your dashboard
The short links you created earlier are now linked to your account and fully manageable.
That’s it — your links are claimed automatically.
What You Can Do After Signing Up
Once your short links are linked to your account, you can:
- Edit destination URLs
- View click statistics
- Enable or disable links
- Delete links you no longer need
- Manage everything from one dashboard
This works even if you created multiple short URLs before signing up.
Why We Built This
We wanted to remove friction.
You shouldn’t have to decide “Should I sign up first?” just to shorten a link.
Now you can:
- Try the shortener instantly
- Create links right away
- Sign up later when you’re ready — without losing anything
Your work stays with you.
A Note About Browser Storage
The short codes are stored locally in your browser until you sign up.
Please note:
- The links are available on the same browser and device
- Clearing browser cookies or switching devices will remove them
- Signing up sooner ensures your links are permanently saved to your account
Ready to Claim Your Links?
